Trail Build & Maintenance
Build Something That Lasts.
Our dig days are where the magic happens. LDTR volunteers pour thousands of hours into building and maintaining the trails at Lysterfield Park. Join us and leave your mark on the trails you love to ride.

Why Trail Building Matters
Every Trail Was Built by Someone
Ready to get shaping?
The trails at Lysterfield didn’t happen by accident. They’re the result of years of dedicated volunteer work — shaping the land, building berms, clearing drains and caring for the environment.
LDTR coordinates regular dig days to keep the trail network sustainable and growing. All work is carried out in partnership with Parks Victoria and follows approved trail plans.
Last season, LDTR volunteers logged over 3,500 hours on trail maintenance and development — and every hour counts.
Dig days are hands-on volunteer sessions where LDTR members work alongside experienced trail builders to maintain and improve the Lysterfield trail network.
Depending on the session, work may include:
- Trail clearing and vegetation management
- Berm shaping and jump construction
- Drainage and erosion repair
- New feature installation
- Post-storm damage repair
No experience is needed — just enthusiasm, appropriate clothing and a willingness to get your hands dirty.
Dig days are open to anyone who wants to contribute to the trails — you don’t need to be an experienced rider or builder.
You’ll need to:
- Be 16 or over (under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian)
- Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and sun protection
- Bring water and snacks
- Register via the event listing so we know numbers
Tools and guidance are provided on the day. Just show up ready to work — and enjoy the camaraderie.
LDTR is the predominant volunteer mountain bike trail building and maintenance group at Lysterfield Park, working in close partnership with Parks Victoria.
All trail work is coordinated through an agreed annual MTB trail maintenance plan developed with Parks Victoria. This ensures all volunteer activity is safe, sanctioned and aligned with the long-term vision for the park.
LDTR coordinates approximately 10 trail maintenance events annually, depending on need and conditions.
