Lysterfield Trail Adoption Program
Your Brand on Trails You Believe In.
The Trail Adoption Program (TAP) is LDTR’s flagship partnership initiative. Businesses and individuals can sponsor a specific trail section at Lysterfield Park, with funds going directly towards maintenance and improvement works. In return, TAP partners gain prominent exposure to over 140,000 annual visitors to the #1 MTB park in Victoria.

Why TAP?
Lysterfield Park: Victoria’s #1 MTB Destination
Lysterfield Park sits at the true centre of Melbourne by population, making it the most accessible trail network in the state. The mountain bike trails receive over 140,000 cycle trips annually, making it the busiest MTB park in Victoria and the second busiest in Australia (Trailforks data, June 2019).
Seven of Lysterfield’s trails rank among the busiest individual trails in Australia. When your brand appears at Lysterfield, it’s in front of one of the most engaged riding communities in the country.
A Real Need & a Real Opportunity
The rapid growth in trail users at Lysterfield has created an increasing demand for maintenance and improvement. LDTR works in partnership with Parks Victoria to deliver an annual MTB trail maintenance plan — and TAP sponsorship funds directly supplement that program.
For businesses that benefit from the Lysterfield MTB community — or any business that wants to elevate its community profile — TAP offers a grassroots partnership with genuine impact and meaningful visibility.
Who You’re Reaching
A Passionate, High-Value Riding Community

TAP partner funds not spent within a financial year on a trail will be rolled over for the same trail, or consolidated for future trail projects — provided LDTR and Parks Victoria agree that trail requires no further attention that year.
TAP Partner Terms
How the TAP agreement works
All TAP partners enter into a formal funding agreement with LDTR that details the agreed use and allocation of sponsorship funds. The agreement includes:

LDTR is not acting as an agent of Parks Victoria in seeking sponsorship through this program, nor is Parks Victoria responsible for guaranteeing the expenditure of any sponsorship funds. Funds raised through TAP will be used by LDTR to support volunteer trail maintenance works by engaging professional trail builders to supplement the existing park maintenance plan. Where maintenance works require a qualified contractor, funds must be transferred to Parks Victoria under an approved funding agreement.

Frequently Asked Questions
TAP is LDTR’s sponsorship initiative that allows businesses and individuals to financially support the maintenance and improvement of a specific trail section at Lysterfield Park. In return, partners receive brand exposure on the trail, across LDTR’s digital channels and at club events.
TAP is open to any business, riding group, family or individual. You don’t need to be a mountain biker — any organisation that wants to support sustainable trail access and connect with the Lysterfield MTB community is welcome to apply.
Browse the trail pricing table on this page to see which trails are currently available and their associated costs. If you have a particular trail in mind that’s listed as ‘NA’, get in touch — availability can change and we’re happy to discuss options.
Funds go directly towards maintaining and improving the trail you sponsor — things like clearing, berm shaping, drainage repairs, feature upgrades and materials for volunteer dig days. Any unspent funds at the end of a financial year are rolled over to the same trail or consolidated for future trail projects (with LDTR and Parks Victoria approval).
Yes. Because Lysterfield Park is managed by Parks Victoria under the National Parks Act 1975, all prospective TAP partners require Parks Victoria endorsement. LDTR works with Parks Victoria to assess each applicant and ensure partners are consistent with Victorian Government values and policies. We’ll manage this process for you.
TAP signs are custom-designed with your branding and produced by LDTR. Each sign measures 180x270mm and is mounted on a post 1,000mm above the ground at a prominent location near the start of your sponsored trail. Signs are installed subject to Parks Victoria approval — one sign per trail. See the sign examples in the gallery above.
Absolutely — and it’s encouraged. TAP partners are welcome to send staff to participate in designated TAP partner trail build days. It’s a great team activity and a hands-on way to see the impact of your contribution.
For businesses adopting a trail section, sponsorships are available for 1, 2 or 3-year terms, with full payment required prior to commencement. For individuals wanting to show support, you can become a TAP Supporter for as little as $20/year with no fixed term.
Current TAP partners receive free entry to the Golden Goat race event and Friday Fun Lazy Loops events for the full duration of their sponsorship, plus a guaranteed exhibition site (3x3m or 6x3m) at all LDTR race and community events.
LDTR is a not-for-profit incorporated association but is not currently a registered charity with DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) status, so TAP sponsorship payments are not tax deductible as donations. However, they may be deductible as a business marketing or sponsorship expense — we recommend confirming this with your accountant.
Get in touch with our TAP coordinator Simon Carlile to discuss which trail suits your business, confirm current availability, and work through the funding agreement. We’ll take care of everything from there.
