Ride Leader
Lead the Way. Shape the Experience.
Ride Leaders are the heart of LDTR’s social riding community. If you’re an experienced rider who loves helping others enjoy the trails, becoming a Ride Leader is a great way to give back and help grow the community at Lysterfield.

What is a Ride Leader?
More Than Just Being at the Front
Ready to join a ride?
LDTR Ride Leaders help guide social rides, create welcoming environments for newer riders and support the growth of the riding community at Lysterfield. You don’t need to be the fastest rider — you need to be someone people want to ride with.
Ride Leaders support programs including Social Rides, Lysty Chicks, Girls of Gravity, Trail Blazers and other community rides throughout the year.
It’s a rewarding role that puts you at the centre of the LDTR community — helping riders of all abilities feel welcome, safe and confident on the trails.
Ride Leader responsibilities vary depending on the program, but typically include:
- Leading or sweeping group rides
- Briefing riders on the day’s route and trail etiquette
- Supporting riders of all abilities throughout the ride
- Acting as a first point of contact for rider welfare on the day
- Communicating with the LDTR committee about ride logistics
The time commitment is flexible — you can lead as often or as occasionally as suits you.
To become a Ride Leader you’ll need:
- A current LDTR membership
- Confidence riding all trails relevant to your program
- A current first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain one — LDTR may be able to assist)
- A genuine enthusiasm for the community and helping others enjoy the trails
If you’re unsure whether you meet the requirements, get in touch — we’re happy to have a conversation about what’s involved.
Ride Leaders can be matched to a program that suits their riding style and availability. Current programs that use Ride Leaders include:
- Social Rides — relaxed community rides open to all abilities
- Lysty Chicks — women’s social rides with multiple ability groups
- Girls of Gravity — women and girls confidence-building rides
- Trail Blazers — junior riding program
When you express interest, let us know which programs appeal to you and we’ll work from there.
